Room Occupancy
The Breakers on the Lake Motel fire code permits a maximum of 8 persons in a Unit depending on the room category. Some Unit types have a maximum occupancy of less than 5 persons.
- Rooms 1 to 10 are priced for double occupancy; maximum occupancy is 4 persons
- Units 11 and 14 are priced for 4 persons; maximum occupancy is 6 persons
- Units 12, 15 and 16 are priced for 6 persons; maximum occupancy is 8 persons
- Each additional person over a specified price per unit is $10.00 per night
- No charge for children under 18 years of age; all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
Reservation Deposits
For reservations of 3 nights or longer during the months of June, July, August and September, a 50% deposit is required by April 15. Deposits may be required for other reservations at our discretion. Deposits received for reservations which are later cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy, will be either credited in full to a future reservation or refunded (less a $10.00 administration fee), at the customers’ direction.
Check in/out
Check in time commences at 3 pm. We try our best to have rooms available as early as possible. If you should arrive and the room is not ready, we will be pleased to store bags in our office while you enjoy exploring the town of Cobourg, or using our outdoor facilities. If you provide us with a cell phone number, we will contact you as soon as the room is ready.
Check out time is 11 am. on the departure day.
Cancellation Policy
We appreciate reasonable notice for all reservation cancellations. We require the same length of notice as the reservation length. For example: if the reservation is for two nights, we require two days notice prior to the start of the reservation. A reservation for a week will require a seven day notice. Notices must be received by 11 am. on the date required. Cancellations without notice in accordance with this policy, will be charged for one night’s stay or more depending on the length of the reservation. If we are able to rebook the reservation, no room charge will be administered. All refunds will be assessed a $10.00 administration fee.
December holiday season cancellation policy
We require a minimum 7 days notice of cancellation for all reservations during the December holiday season between December 15 and January 2, regardless of the length of the reservation, in accordance with our cancellation policy.
Pets
Pets are allowed in Ground Floor Rooms 1 to 6, the Housekeeping Units (11, 12, and 14), Cottage 15 and House 16. Pets are not allowed in Upper Level Rooms 7, 8, 9, and 10. Pets must be on a leash at all times.
Smoking Policy
All Rooms, Housekeeping Units and the Cottage are non-smoking units. Smoking is not permitted on any of the porches or balconies.
Cots and Playpens
Cots and Playpens are available at a cost of $15 per night to a maximum of $45 per week.
Barbeques, Wood fire pits and Picnic tables
We provide charcoal barbecues and wood fire pits for your use from May to October. Fire pits are available for $12 and come with a free bag of wood. We also provide charcoal, lighter fluid and barbecue tools. There are picnic tables and lawn chairs available. Plastic tablecloths are also available at the office for your use.
Tents
To ensure proper care and maintenance of our landscaped grounds, we do not allow guests to put tents on the lawn.

Privacy Statement
Canada’s legislated Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act took effect in 2004 and all businesses in Canada are required to obtain written consent in order to collect and retain personal information on their customers and guests. Please read the following carefully;
- “I understand that the information set out above and other personal information which is supplied by me, will be used to assist you in providing additional services to me, in collecting amounts owing from me, and in contacting me in future with respect to services and facilities you have to offer.

Guests will be asked to sign our registration card when checking in, agreeing to this policy.
